SO MUCH FOR KIDS & PARENTS TO DO--TOGETHER!
ALLENTOWN, PA, 2002– Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom continues to be the region’s most complete family entertainment destination. Behind all of the thrills and spills stands a commitment to providing world-class entertainment that everyone in the family can enjoy together.
Camp Snoopy is at the top of Dorney Park’s family offerings. In this two-acre comic strip playland, kids can meet Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy and many more of the world-famous PEANUTS characters.
Scattered throughout Camp Snoopy are nine cleverly themed rides for kids. Many of these have room for parents to ride along too, like Woodstock’s Express, a scaled-down roller coaster. Several rides are smaller versions of Dorney Park favorites, such as Woodstock’s Airmail, a pint-size version of Dorney Park’s towering Dominator, and Flying Ace, a mini swinging Sea Dragon ship that is themed around Snoopy’s infamous adventures with the Red Baron.
In the center of Camp Snoopy, kids can discover the Inventor’s Workshop, an interactive museum that explores the history of invention with interactive displays. Camp Snoopy Outfitters houses all the essential PEANUTSTM merchandise, making it easy to gear-up Snoopy-style. And Chuck’s Lunchbox specializes in “kids food,” like macaroni and cheese, chicken bites and Charlie Brown’s favorite chocolate chip cookies.
“The combination of the PEANUTS characters and a wide variety of premier attractions for children make Camp Snoopy an entire park in itself,” states John Albino, Vice President and General Manager. “The idea is for parents to interact with their children as much as possible. The result is more fun for everyone.”
Families visiting Dorney Park will discover rides and attractions suitable for the whole troop around every corner. The Antique Carousel, the Ferris Wheel and the Cedar Creek Cannonball train are classic favorites that have delighted families for years. The zigzagging turns of the Wild Mouse family coaster gives smaller children their first taste of big thrills.
A journey through Tot Spot reveals more treasures. Next to the Laser double-looping coaster stands Little Laser, a miniature roller coaster designed with its own pretend loop. More smiles are guaranteed on Dragon Coaster plus six other classic “kiddie rides” in Tot Spot.
Wildwater Kingdom has two adjacent water playlands to enchant children for hours. In Kid’s Cove, kids can climb, slide, splash and play on a colorful submarine and octopus. At the nearby Lollipop Lagoon, little ones will discover frog slides, turtle fountains and squirt guns.
Island Water Works provides three floors of more than 70 water gags for all ages, including dumping buckets, misters and water blasters. Children and parents alike can enjoy a journey down their choice of two tubing rivers or splash among the breakers of the 750,000-gallon Wave Pool.
Saturdays and Sundays during October are HalloWeekends at the Park, a time when families celebrate the Halloween season with festivities that include special scare-free fun for kids. Visit Camp Spooky and see the Great Pumpkin, Trick or Treat at the doors of popular storybook characters, and test creative skills at Mask Making.
Best of all, a special Junior Admission price makes it affordable to bring the entire family over and over again. Kids ages 4 and over, under 48 inches in height in shoes, are eligible for the Junior daily admission of only $13.00 per child. Kids ages three and under are admitted free every operating day. Dorney Park is open on weekends starting on Saturday, May 4, 2002 (Wildwater Kingdom is closed). Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom are both open everyday starting on Saturday, May 25, 2002.
